Normally I prefer to start my series at #1 but my brother got me this book last Christmas it happened to be the 21st in the series Because of that I felt like I was lacking a lot of background on the character but I don't blame the author for that often they get a lot of flack for reintroducing a character too much in every bookI felt it was a bit of a slow start but I did get into the story once we got rolling Thought that the reactions of her crew to her 'skills' though somewhat annoying might realisticAlso felt that the reading level might have been a bit above the target audience or at least there were uite a few big words for a little paperbackThe power to conjure up the sword of Joan of Arc at the drop of hat Totally awesome how can you not think that is cool Would be willing to check out the first book do the series up right ;

Paradox AUTHOR Alex ArchArchaeologist Annja Creed reluctantly accepts an assignment on behalf of a covert arm of the US Government She is to lead an expedition to the top of Mount Ararat to find the truth about what is thought to be the remains of Noah's. This is the 21st release in the Rogue Angel series featuring Annya Creed Creed is a world traveling archaeologist with a penchant for adventure lost cities mysterious codes and puzzles and shadowy history that was never recorded along with a plethora of trouble and gamesmanship on the part of the various playersHeir to Joan of Arc's mystic sword Annya finds herself drawn into the webs of darkest villainy with lives on the line She is also a host of Chasing History’s Monsters which ultimately leads her into some not realistic stories that the network deems interesting She is known as the library type and her trademark is her skeptical attitude towards thingsThis time around the story leads Annya and crew in the search for Noah’s Ark in the Ararat Mountains of Turkey Mount Ararat in Judeo Christian tradition is associated with the Mountains of Ararat where according to the book of Genesis Noah's ark came to rest 3 miles into the mountains themselves Book of Genesis Annya reluctantly agrees to go along on the expedition with Christian Right Wing Fundamentalists after her network is asked to send a camera crew along to document the adventure in its entirety Of course having Charles Bostitch a billionaire who made his fortune from his own father in the oil industry goes a long way toward getting what he wants and who he wants Annya doesn’t agree until she speaks with a abbalist Rabbi named Levi LeibowitzFirst things first; “Archaeologist Annja Creed reluctantly accepts an assignment on behalf of a covert arm of the US Government” WRONG Annya does NOT work for any covert branch of the US Government in any capacity in this book So who ever in the marketing department decided to lie to the readers should be fired and ashamed at the same timeThis story uickly became a debate about the validity of the actual bible and whether or not there are several Deity's as some faiths suggest I am not here to debate that nor would it add to my review or the actual story itself The story SHOULD have been about the Ark and whether or not it is for real AND how it ended up 3 miles into a mountain side in the first place Unfortunately it strayed Next I read this series because I like Annya’s character and her adventures I like the fact that she has the sword that she can grab from the otherwhere at a moment’s notice to protect not only her but those she protects as well I like reading and following along as she finds herself neck deep into danger and trouble everywhere she goes What I don’t like are writer’s personal religions or political views on the world taking a spotlight on the story itself Unfortunately whoever this writer was ended up doing just that This not only takes away from the fun of the series but my overall rating as well Hopefully the next writer in this series will have restrained his or herself in that areaFor those who love Roux and Garin Braden you get Roux but not Garin Roux has become her business manager as it were and takes in inuires and reuests for Annya’s participation The ARK expedition came to Roux firstIf you want nearly every single sub character to die either by Annya's hands or nefarious means; you definitely get it here You even get a convoluted ending and a mysterious character named Mr Summer who claims to know the young Roux and his apprentice Next book in series 22 The Spirit Banner 01122010
